About
'Ghouls and Gold' is a Doom inspired first-person game developed for the University of Northampton Winter Game Jam
2026. The game features an interactive 3D environment and enemy combat mechanics, where players must navigate
through a haunted maze filled with ghouls to collect gold. The game was developed by a team of second and third
year students over the course of a week. I contributed a significant proportion of the programming work for the
project, including the combat mechanics for the player and enemies in the game. Additionally I also worked on
implementing envionment interactions, such as the player being able to open chests and pick up loot. My final
contribution to the project was implementing the final boss mechanics, which involved creating a unique enemy with
its own attack patterns and behaviours.

Reflection
This was my first ever attempt at joining a game jam, and was unfortunately very unwell during the week of the
event. Despite this, I still managed to contribute a significant amount of work to the project, and I am very
proud of what I was able to achieve in such a short amount of time. I am also very happy with how the game
turned out, and I am grateful to have been a part of such a talented team. This project was a great learning
experience for me, and I am looking forward to participating in more game jams in the future.
